Tunisia exports PDF Print E-mail
The country's car industry has become a notable growth area over
recent years due primarily to competitive production costs. The
industry now employs some 20 thousand people in 130 firms making car
parts to international standards. Pharmaceutical exports are also
booming with over 22 plants producing internationally-certified
medicines. As the world's leading date exporter and the fourth leading
exporter of olive oil, Tunisia sees access to the massive European
market as strategic. In addition to agricultural products, it has been
particularly successful in developing exports of textiles, clothing
and leather goods. Among the world's top ten clothing suppliers,
Tunisia is now the European Union's largest single supplier of
trousers. To boost exports the country launched a national upgrading
programme to raise the quality standards of Tunisian garments
internationally with a target of this year.
